We got home a little late from Labor Day and were craving Italian. When we walked to Bar Roma and found it closed, we started just walking north to see what we could find. Brick Lane looked clean and British Pub-esque, but had an Indian menu. While completely different than what we first set out for, the food was pretty good. I mean I like Indian food, so when it is done decently well I am almost always a fan. What l also liked was that it was delivered in a laid-back pub atmosphere. Definitely worth the trip for a beer and some good Indian food.

This review is long overdue. Brick Lane on the Upper East Side consistently has high quality food. The lunch buffet is creative and delicious. They offer a large variety, and it's one of the best meals for price and quantity and quality. The dinner has been wonderful. The gigantic and beautiful bar offers great options. They also have happy hour pricing. We held a large party at this restaurant a few months ago, and we were extremely pleased with the service. The manager, Gaurang, is exceptional. He has a great demeanor and assisted with planning and arrangements. The food was excellent with many choices for guests. You have the traditional Indian dishes as well as tasty unique preparations. Everything is impeccable. We would not hesitate to host another event at this restaurant or dine at Brick Lane Curry House on the Upper East Side!

Came here on a saturday night, and immediately fell in love with the decor. Ordered samosas as appetizer, great chutney. The drinks we ordered were ok, cucumber cocktail and mango mojito. They do have kingfisher which is always a plus. We got the chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo and malai kofta. Lamb vindaloo was great, spicy if youre not used to it. I loved the chicken tikka masala, chicken was cooked really well. The malai kofta was rich and the mildest. The quantity was def worth the price, and one naan itself is huge. Service was great too, very informative. Wish they had fennel seeds/indian mouth freshener at the end so itd help us digest all that we ate. Would def recommend this place though, great for those who are just trying out indian food for the first time.

Came here for dinner with some friends on a Wednesday night. I eat a lot of Indian food so I like to think I am quite familiar with the cuisine. We each ordered dishes but ended up sharing them in the middle with a few orders of naan: Chicken Makhani (butter chicken in a tikka masala sauce), Chicken Madras, and Chicken Korma. I found the chicken makhani to be a little, and the sauce was thin. I enjoyed the flavor of my Chicken Madras, but I didn't think it was anywhere near spicy enough (the hot sauce they gave me was a little too vinegary for my taste). The Chicken Korma was very sweet, and wasn't as flavorful in my opinion. The entrees appear small, but I ended up taking half of mine home. After tax and tip, the bill came to about $30 per person, which is a little steep for the quality. I'll keep searching for some good Indian food on the UES.

I went here for their lunch buffet and it was pretty good. I am not a big fan of Indian but I like to try new things and it was worth it! They have several different types of rice, meat and condiments so you can choose your favorite items among them. Service was okay and the ambience was okay nothing special.

It's not often I take time out of my day to write food reviews! Sorry, I just don't have time time. However! This place i'm making an exception for. I was sick with a cough yesterday and was just craving Indian food. I ordered the Korma and some Nan bread and it was by FAR the best Korna I've had in NYC thus far. I grew up in the UK and have had the BEST Indian there is and i've struggled to find a place that even compares to UK places! THIS ONE DOES! GO HERE! It came to be PIPING HOT and it was just delicious! I LOVE THIS PLACE! I'll never go anywhere else!

I used to come here all the time for their buffet! I think it's 15$ but ids totally worth it. They usually have 4'curries and usually includes a chicken tikka masala and a lamb curry. Also includes sizzler, my favorite at this place is the yellow daal that comes with it. Probably the best daal in nyc! For adventurous people check out their spicy curry called phaal, it's a blend of 10 different peppers and will definitely burn you from top to bottom if you know wha to mean :) but if you can finish it you get a free beer and get a spot in the hall of fame!

3 stars for food, none for service. I walked into the restaurant for buffet. Food tasted good but the variety was below average. The service was below average. Tandoori chicken thumbs up!! The ambience is nice- full bar with romantic aura. Overall, I expect more for the price!

The quality of the buffet is very good but the service Sunday, Jul 19th was extremely poor: - The host/bartender asked if I had a shirt as I was wearing a tank top and requested that I put a different shirt on. I told him that I was wearing a shirt and placed my backpack on an open chair, as the place was 90% empty. It was over 90 degrees in NYC that day, and this is an indian buffet lunch-- in 12 years in Manhattan I've never had this happen - Asked them to bring additional napkins and they never did - Requested naan and waited 15 minutes after watching them bring out naan to other guests while we kept waiting I had been here before but the service Sunday was overall awful so now I will be looking for another place that treats customers better to recommend to my friends

Went here today for the lunch buffet. It's $12 per person. The restaurant itself is nice. It's pretty spacious and a little dim inside. I honestly enjoyed the food but I was a little disappointed that they lacked variety. When I think of a buffet I think about having a lot of different options.

This is one of our absolute favorite restaurants. We did our rehearsal dinner for our wedding here. The service was outstanding as well as the food. The lunch buffet is a great way to spend the afternoon. Highly recommend!

Went here for the lunch buffet. Good price but bad food. This place gave me food poisoning. I know it wasn't just me because I went with a bunch of my coworkers and we all had stomach issues after eating here. I would never go back. Beware!

Brick Lane is always pretty good food, I'm sorry that they don't have as much business as they should (but they might be doing a lot of delivery, I'm not sure). To be fair, they are a little more expensive than many Indian places - but I think the quality is also much better in general. We had the samosa chaat (a deconstructed samosa, which was mostly filling and less exterior, so, better), and the chicken tikka tandoor. The Chicken Tikka was a little dry and there weren't as many vegetables as I'd hoped, but it was still pretty good overall. It smells great off the sizzling platter. Overall good.

I stopped in here randomly on a weekend afternoon. Great happy hour specials on drinks and food. Very clean restrooms and dining area. I don't often leave yelp reviews but given the quality of my dining experience I felt I should take the time.

Decent food. Very nice staff. Decor and atmosphere was cool. Good for a date. Lunch buffet was well worth it; quite a few options. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

We were excited for an Indian restaurant close to our apt! Many have closed in the area and we were hoping to find a new favorite. I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant but some of the food items were disappointing. We ordered the Onion Bhaji which was literally a chickpea patty w/onions. Maybe it wasn't the way the waiter described ("like onion rings") but I thought it tasted like a falafel gone wrong and way too greasy. The curries are listed in order of spiciness (least to most). For the main courses I got the chicken butter masala and my bf ordered the goat goan. I'm more of a mild/mod spice person but I like the flavors of the curries. The goat was too gamey for my taste but my bf liked it. The portions looked small they were very filling! We both took home leftovers. I haven't had too many mango lassies but the one they had here was pretty good. Not overly sweet, smooth and refreshing. Perfect complement to cut the heat! Overall I'd probably just stick to the curries and I'd like to try the lunch special which seemed like a pretty good deal.

My new client invited me to join her husband and son after a day of shopping for her upcoming trip to China. The mission was affordable, comfortable, fashions that travel with ease. In 3 hours I had the job done and she was so thrilled that we ended up at Brick Lane Curry House for dinner & drinks! I've eaten at many restaurants that served cuisine from India, but food at this restaurant was incredibly delicious. I had the mixed seafood Chefs Specialty and was beyond pleased! The service was impeccable and the staff spoke spoke at a civilized level. Our server wasn't as knowledgeable on the wine list, but that didn't bother me because this list was so extensive that I was familiar with many of the options. The manager gifted us all dessert to make up for it, and for my client's loyal patronage!!!

Its hard to give even one star. While the Mango Lassi was delicious I couldn't tell you how the food was as I walked out without a bite. Seems they think a lunch portion of chicken tikka masala is four chunks of chicken (one of which was half the size of the other three modest sized chunks). I assumed the kitchen made a mistake and told the waiter there were only 4 chunks thinking he would return with 2 or 3 more. Instead he went back and forth to the manager who told him to tell me that is the lunch portion. When I pointed out that the 4th chunk seemed to be only part of one, he then sent the manager over who again said that was the lunch portion. At that point I was so disgusted with the lousy service I threw 10 bucks on the table and walked out. Oh, and the lentil of the day looked like baked beans. No thanks!

NO! DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! Delivery last night for my girlfriend and me. Once we got over the sticker shock of the prices ($10 for samosas. Samosas!), we thought perhaps there would be a good reason the owners have the nerve to charge so much for their food. (Chicken vindaloo $20! For chicken!!) Not so. Samosas were sub-par at best. Curry in a Hurry in Murray Hill, samosas warmed in their microwave, were miles better. Lamb vindaloo, chicken goan (go on!), side of Phaal sauce- all were unpleasant in texture, dull in taste. Yes, the Phaal sauce was hot, but lackluster. We each had tastes of the food, put our forks down in disgust. My question, Yelpers, HOW DOES BRICK LANE GET AWAY WITH SUCH BAD FOOD AND SUCH HIGH PRICES? And how is it that people give this place good ratings? GO TO OM RESTAURANT INSTEAD. (They are excellent and we will stay loyal to them.)

I've been waiting for this place to open. The neighborhood was in dire need of a place like this. I've only gone at weird hours after hurricane sandy and it's been pretty empty. First, the service was OKAY. It was not very fast but not abysmal either. Minus one star for this. They were all nice though. Second, the food. I've been very happy with the food. The lunch special is probably the best deal on the menu for $10, a plate of curry, rice, naan, dessert, and an appetizer. Warning, the lunch special doesn't yet show up on seamless, so you'll probably have to call to order it. It's satisfying and tasty. Unfortunately, it's a little rice heavy IMO but I suppose that's how it is with most indian food. The currys themselves have been flavorful and good, if not a little bit light on the protein, but it's a fine amount for the lunch special. Tried the Vindaloo, Bhuna, and Tikka Masala. Anyway, this place has definitely made it to the top of the rotation.

Food was great - 5/5. Portions were fairly large (as in most Indian restaurants). The atmosphere was alright = 4/5. The service was just OK - 3/5. Waiters, servers were very friendly, but frequently forgot things, confused orders, etc.

having ordered and eaten at the midtown and east village locations more times than i can count, i gotta say, the food sucks balls at this one. they really need to run a tutorial on cooking meat and other things by these guys. topics should include: 1. how to make chicken NOT taste like shit 2. how to not make biryani taste like shit. 3. how to make sure the rice is properly cooked in the biryani, so the customer doesn't eat undercooked rice :) this was my go-to when i lived downtown, but now i must cut the cord.

Oh boy, does this place deserve a bad review. I never do this unless they really are asking for it, but this place? SHADY and DISHONEST. Here is what happened. We were a large party and we ordered hundreds of dollars worth of food and wine including a couple bottles of wine priced at $36 each. When the bill arrived there was a charge for a $78 bottle of wine. I asked the waiter over and told him there had been an error. He says, "No there is no error. We brought that wine to the table and you drank it so you pay for it." He said they didn't have the wine we ordered so instead he brought a different bottle (costing $42 dollars more) and that we "approved it" by looking at the bottle and nodding when they brought it over. EXCUSE ME? Like we are supposed to be familiar with what the outside of every bottle looks like! Insane! Even the manager said the same thing. And they refused to take the charge off the bill! The best he offered us was a "discount." We left without leaving a tip because of how rude and dishonest they had been. And what do they do? They chase after us saying we have to leave a tip. Apparently this is what they do at Brick Lane: lie to customers, refuse to admit their wrongdoing, and then ask for more money. Never going there again. Oh and also, I went there one previous time and our lunch order took nearly 45 minutes to get to our table and the food was meh at best. The waiter just kept saying "5 more minutes." Awful.

This might be the greatest lunch deal in the UES. $10 gets you an entree, rice, veggies on the side, naan, potatoes, and dessert. Easily enough food for two meals. Everything I've tried here has been great but the tilapia tikka masala I had recently was fantastic. Service is friendly but can be a little too relaxed during lunch.

I was excited to see an Indian restaurant open after that abomination down the street closed. First impressions were the space is very nice and much larger in the back than it looks from the front. Full bar, nice selection of beer on tap. However, it loses the plot after that. The mulligatawny I ordered had no taste, no taste whatsoever. It was like eating an insipid , green broth. Not very good. My wife and I both have had better Samosas, not very good either. Both our curry dishes were adequate but the portions were very, very small for the 18-20$ price tag. The bowl of rice was way to small for two entrees and the Nan.....the jury is out as to whether the nan was fresh or not. Not a very positive experience and not sure I would recommend to people I like.

Ordered delivery from Brick Lane tonight, and have been up all night vomiting. Have felt sick ever since eating the food. I live a few blocks away and have had good previous experiences here, but probably will never be able to stomach ordering from here again. Just curious if anybody else is also sick?

The lunch special is a great deal and the food is very tasty. For $10 you get a curry, the veggie of the day, the soup of the day, rice and bread. Cant beat that. The Madras curry was particularly good. Curry Lane is a nice addition to the neighborhood. Not sure why all the low ratings.

This place was sooooo close to getting 5 stars! Let's put it this way, food gets 5 stars. The staff was pleasant and very attentive, but they spoke so softly that it was difficult to hear them. We had plenty of questions but really didn't get anything answered because out of politeness we didn't want to ask them to repeat themselves 3 times. I was with a group who love trying food so the lack of information didn't bother us. That said, there's a very simple solution to an unnecessary issue. But the food! Oh god, the food! I'm glad we all went with our gut on our dish decisions because the end result was perfection. I got the Bhuna curry. I'm even feeling separation anxiety from this dish since last night. So so so delicious. My friend had the stuffed calamari and it was pleasantly tender and flavorful. We also got a lamb patty and some lamb leg. Along with their aforementioned table associates, simply delicious! This place put to shame my neighborhood spot and I now have tasted what I think Indian food really should taste like.

Went to this place last night. Absolutely delicious! Food was amazing, the staff were super friendly and I came out feeling SO full and the portions are so big I have enough food left to eat tonight. Very reasonably priced, great value for what you get. I'll definitely go there again. Love the place!

The food here is delicious -- I've had the chicken tikka masala and vindaloo so far and they were intensely flavorful. The lunch special is a great deal, only I could do without the gooey dessert--desserts should really be left in the able hands of europeans: french, germans, belgians, austrians, italians. Cut out the dessert and give me a delicious samosa instead. Service very friendly. On a recent weekend they did a lunch buffet, maybe it was a Mother's Day special, but if they did that every weekend they would probably have my business for life, it was that good.

Stopped in to eat after attending a talk at the 92nd street Y. The restaurant just happened to be on our way back to our car. We were really pleasantly surprised! The food and the service was fantastic. We ordered Lassuni Gobi to start (lightly battered, crispy cauliflower florets with a wonderful tomato/garlic sauce. They brought us papadam with 3 different dipping sauces which were all wonderful in their own unique way. I had the Chicken Tikka - kind of a grilled chicken with a Tandoori-like sauce and a delicious tomato-based sauce on the side. My husband had the fish curry or Moilee which was a wonderful mild curry with the slight sweetness of the coconut. Our servers were really great and attentive (it was 9:30 pm, though). Would definitely recommend this place and will definitely make plans to go again.

Great new UES spot. Went here for drinks and had a nice low key evening with great atmosphere and friendly bartenders. Came back the next day for lunch and enjoyed the $10 lunch special which included an entree, naan, rice, lentils, and dessert. I had the chicken tikka masala and it was amazing. The waiter also offered to bring us extra rice and naan. Great service and food!

Doesn't even deserve 1 star ---- and I've never hated a place as much as this. Poor quality food, HORRIBLE wait staff. Dirty utensils. Undercooked food. Don't waste your time on overpriced tasteless food. Go somewhere else.

Think Chevys, Indian-style. We ate a dish that was chopped-up samosas slathered with white sauce and green sauce (supposedly yogurt and mint?). It was Indian nachoes. Very kitchen-sinky and fattening. We also ordered one of my favorites, Chicken Korma. The sauce is supposed to be creamy almond. You couldn't taste nuts at all, or the cream; the dish, like the others, was oversalted. We also had a tandoori lamb patties: gross and greasy. I never knew I was an expert on Indian food until this place. I guess I expect much better in NYC. I gave it two stars because the wait staff is very nice and professional.

Brick Lane Curry just opened on our block so we thought we'd give it a try for dinner...it was fantastic! Definitely recommend the fish entrees, Parsi Macchi & the Tandoori catch of the day, as well as the Mango Lassi. So glad we decided to stop in!

We have eaten there several times. Every time something was wrong. They forget to charge discounted price for happy hour during our first visit. When ordering food for delivery they have sent it to the wrong address not once but twice. When I ordered 2 dishes they only sent 1. Then they sent wrong type of drinks and took them over an hour to get the correct drinks delivered to our place which is literally 5 minutes away from the restaurant. However, the chicken tikka masala is pretty good. Other dishes are not very consistent. Some days they are good, some days not so much. They have potential but they lack good management.

Their $15 lunch buffets have now been extended to all seven days of the week. Their buffets include at least two vegetarian side dishes (including some form of lentils for more health conscious individuals) and unlimited naan, along with a rice dish. They also have tandoori chicken for meat lovers, along with some other meat dishes. After eating our fill, we usually drink a cup of chai (or two) and enjoy some mousse or gulab jamun for dessert. They now offer a stamp card, so every fifth buffet should be free! Definitely ask them about it. Overall, I agree that the prices are on the higher end if you're looking for authentic, classy indian food. Nevertheless, Brick Lane always satisfies our craving for nearby Indian food with an array of yummy choices!

This place was great. Wonderful ambiance. Great Indian food, great service. We had a really good time. We ordered the samosas and chicken tikka masala. It came with naan bread and rice. I also tried the phaal curry sauce, which basically tasted like heat. But it was generally a really good experience. Would definitely recommend this place!

Brick Lane occupies a storefront that has appeared "cursed" for a long time. No wonder -- it's HUGE! That was the first thing I noticed when we went in. It's also kind of beautiful: high ceilings with room for a mezzanine area in the back, brickwork, hanging iron lamps, and a full bar. My mom and I were waiting for my sister to join us, so we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. The service at the front was impeccable. The hostess was very polite about letting us know that our table was ready whenever we were, and didn't try to rush us or anything. My mom was impressed by how spotlessly clean the wine glasses were, and I was thrilled to get a little dish of spicy peanuts with my beer. Although Brick Lane is the home of the famous Phall, we played it safe: samosas, butter masala chicken, black lentils and nilgiri curry (which I'd never had before). The samosas were brought out first and were the low point of the meal; expecting normal fried patties, we were confused by a plate of cold potatos covered in tamarind and chutney with little crispies that looked like chow mein noodles on top. We ate it, it was reasonably okay, but until the main courses arrived we weren't really convinced that we had ordered it. Given that we had wanted normal samosas we felt somewhat disappointed about the mixup. The main dishes were good, and I liked the idea of the nilgiri curry sauce -- kind of minty and coconutty, reminiscent of Thai curries. However, the dish could have been a bit more flavorful; what I tasted was largely spice and cream. If I went again I'd also have it with shrimp instead of vegetables, because while the veggies were okay I think the shrimp would have made it seem more like a special entree after our saucy appetizer. The lentils and butter masala were also both very rich and creamy, which made for good dipping. Again, though, while they were tasty and satisfying they could have been more flavorful. We also tried both the rosemary and plain naan -- the rosemary was almost too rosemary-y to dip, and was better on its own. Sadly once the main course came I was a little too full to really enjoy it, and got most of the lentils and curry to go. Strangely, they squished everything (including the naan) into little cardboard takeout containers that seemed possibly smaller than the amount of food left, and did a very messy job of it, too. Those messy takeout containers are unfortunately my last impression of Brick Lane and are part of what knocked it down from a 4 to a 3-star review in my mind. Overall, I'd say that while Brick Lane has the potential to be amazing, right now they have some things to work out. The prices, ambiance and (some of the) service say, "We're classy!" but other elements contradict that. The food is good but lacks nuance. After seeing a few UES Indian restaurants come and go, I hope that Brick Lane can get the formula right.

Chicken tikka masala = delish. My boyfriend highly recommended the Nilgiri Korma. Delicious, fresh and beautifully prepared food. Loved it. (added 2 pictures) The prices @ Brick Lane are more expensive than our other favorite Indian restaurant in the UES. Just as good, though. If I go again to Brick Lane - it is to entertain someone or for a special date because of the prices. There is alcohol here. Large space, probably seats 200 people in total with an upstairs and downstairs. Seems to be great for groups, a celebration or an intimate evening. Quiet indian music playing - very enjoyable. Also, had a soccer game on and a ton of bar seats for those interested. Enjoy!

We visited this place for the weekend lunch buffet. The price was little bit higher than usual Indian lunch buffet but definitely worth it. Very delicious food, good service and a clean restaurant. If you live around here and want to try a descent Indian resraurant, I would recommend this place for sure. Way better than Maharaj Palace on Lex.

After all my friends raved about the Brick Lane Curry House downtown, I had high expectations for this place. The fact that it's named Brick Lane also didn't help - I've eaten Indian food on Brick Lane so I had extremely high expectations. And.... I was severely disappointed. I got the Chicken Butter Masala and the Chicken Korma - and I was severely disappointed with both. Not only were there only a few pieces of really dry chicken, but there wasn't enough rice. I also don't understand why there were vegetables in the rice - at all of the Indian restaurants I went to in London, they served regular basmati rice with the curries. Plus, they only gave one serving of the side dips, even though I ordered two main courses. Plus, they were $18 each, and I just personally felt like it was overpriced. Maybe I'll have to try the lunch special, since it seems like it was a better deal. But, the only reason I was up here was due to Hurricane Sandy - otherwise I would've gone to a more authentic (and not chain) Indian restaurant. Overall, the flavors were great, I just wish it was more filling.

Food was greasy but yummy. Prices were slightly higher than other Indian joints I've been to. Service also could have been better. Chola is still my go-to Indian restaurant. I tried their Malai Kofta and their Chicken Madras. Both okay... I would revisit to try the Phaal Curry with a bunch of friends.

Big fan of Indian food for years. The UES location is a nice location with a long bar, which is really nice for lone diners. They have a buffet on the weekends which includes one drink from the bar. Unfortunately, the food at the buffet seems bland and not replenished enough. Often times you need to tell them that the tea/coffee canister is empty or that a buffet dish is empty. I sit at the bar as a lone dinner, yet they often neglect to provide my one drink that comes with the buffet, thus I need to ask the bartender for it which can be annoying. They seemed focused on diners at the table even though I tip just as good. There are not many Indian restaurants in the UES (E90s), so its good to have this nearby but service needs to be a little more attentive and the food needs to be a little more spicy.
(3)
Ash O.
This may sound very cliche but this is a neighborhood gem. Even if you don't live on the UES, it is worth traveling to. The food here is great and it has an inventive menu along with some standbys that you will recognize. Although my fiance and I had been in only once, the maitre'd remembered us when we returned several weeks later. The weekend brunch is a great bargain. We had the goat madras and the lamb phaal on our first trip (which is likely why we were remembered when we returned for brunch).

Delivery - On time (used seamless) and still warm Food Order- Madras curry w/ chicken - I don't have curry too often but this place is at the top of my short list. This dish was the perfect spicy level for me. It's expensive but I will be back because it hits the spot. Other - The phaal pepper challenge is nearly impossible to watch let alone attempt, but it's fun to get it for several people just to have a bite or two.

Pricey, but without a doubt the best quality Indian food in the UES. I can't speak to the phaal curry as I'm not into the super spicy thing, but the tikka masala sauce is rich and delicious, and the vindaloo (medium spicy) is much better than I've had at most other Indian restaurants in NYC. The biggest plus for me is the quality of the chicken as it is perfectly moist and noticeably a cut above. The restaurant itself is nice and comfortable with a big beautiful bar with a TV.

I've been on a needle-in-a-haystack search for a lunch spot in the '80s and '90s on the Upper East Side this month that has the magic formula of being comfortable, friendly, affordable, and tasty. I thought I had hit the jackpot when I tried the lunch special at this place a couple of weeks back. Even though it's really an evening restaurant, there was a nice sunny nook near the window with four small tables away from the enormous bar that didn't make the time seem out of joint. I thought it would be a good place to treat myself to a nice end-of-week sit-down meal. But on my second visit, as I headed towards the two free tables in the nook I was ushered away by a smiling but forceful waiter to the abandoned fleet of tables in gloomtown in the back. So there I sat, adrift, eating curry that was just as good and value-for-money as before, looking over at the front nook where another single diner was then seated and there were always at least two tables vacant. Never going there again.

Pretty good English style curry. The masala is great and so is the naan. Lots of great sauces to choose from. Never very crowded, so easy last minute dining choice. Specialty drinks are not good, tried both the margarita and mojito. Stick to a good draft ale with your meal.

I'm not going to comment on the abysmal service because they JUST opened, and I came in right after Hurricane Sandy passed over NYC. I am confident that was an "off" night, and let's face it, the whole city was in shambles after that experice. My curry was absolutely, mind-blowingly delicious. I asked my server to recommend something different, and ended up with veggie Nilgiri Korma. Wow. I cannot find adequate words to describe how amazing this curry is. It's so different from any curry I've ever had, loved the tangy, creamy, vinegar-y flavor. Incredible. The prices aren't exactly cheap, but it's worth it. Also, they are BYOB right now - show up with a bottle while you still can!

Seriously delicious indian food on the upper east side!! We started with samosas which were good, but a little heavy/oily, would not get that again. Our group shared three entrees -- butter masala, chicken bhuna and chana masala -- and they were all incredibly delicious! Better than anything I've had in Milwaukee. Service was good but not great. Very friendly and helpful during the decision making process. We were never offered a drink menu or a dessert menu, but they did keep the water coming. Will definitely be back! Wish they had a location in the Midwest:)

Terrific curry. Much better than most of the city's places, especially if you are seeking the kind of place that would be recognisable to a Brit. But more than North Indian is represented here: good vegetarian and some good southern fish dishes. Large place with quiet back room. OK wine list. Friendly and helpful staff.

authentic and unpretentious. the food was much more geared towards people who know indian food. no hot medium mild crap. you order the curry you want because you know it's strength. not for the faint hearted. avoid the bangalore phal challenge. it's not worth damaging your entire system for a free beer. they did bring us a round of drinks on the house which endeared them to us. highly recommended.

I would want to give this place 3.5 stars, because it didn't meet the expectations that i went with. I could taste the dry spices in the Curries. Dry spices are not good for body. It tends to give heartburns, no doubf they taste better. staff was very friendly and polite may be because the resraurant was'nt that busy. Chiken tika was meh.. kebabs were great. Naan was nice and fluffy, could have done with more garlic. Great ambience though.

I have eaten at Brick Lane many times, but this location is awesome. Attentive staff, huge venue with seating downstairs and upstairs, to a white linen room. I always order lamb biryani, though this time they had goat biryani- quite the dish. Cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. The chicken tikka naan was way too much as an appetizer, had to hold back because I knew the biryani was next....

I just found one of the best lunch deals in NY. $10 gets you too much food plus dessert. I had the tilapia in goan sauce over rice with two delicious sides and naan. Just order a lunch special that looks good to you and you'll do just fine :). I'm sure it's nice for dinner too. The ambiance is great and there's a nice bar, but it's likely a bit more expensive.

Omg! Today was my birthday and I decided to eat here with my wife. We were greeted with a warm welcome as we walked into the place. Our awesome waiter, Vikram, was very polite and helpful. He knew the menu inside out and knew every detail about every dish. He was very attentive and I recommend you ask for him when you come here. I honestly loved my chicken vindaloo. I have never tasted anything to come close to this dish. Very flavorful but also very hot. That's the way I asked him to make it. The vindaloo was thick and the flavor was spot on. Vikram suggested I get a side of some white sauce. I helps cool the heat down a little. The sauce was really tasteful. Since it was my birthday, Vikram played happy birthday throughout the restaurant and brought me and my wife a special little dessert. Very kind of him. The manager also came to our table and greeted himself. I gave him compliments for the restaurant and also the service and food. Highly recommend to anyone that wants the best Indian food in the city. Stop by and try it out.

To my surprise, I have a Brick Lane Curry house near my apt! I loved the chicken tikka masala & Moilee with Shrimp which was delicious!! The cocktails are one of a kind - we tried one with chilies which was really good. The portions are amble to last for another meal. The service is excellent and staff is very friendly, enjoyed a chat with the manager DJ. We will be coming back again soon :)

Come here for the lunch special- best price for Indian food in the area, and superior to Maharaja! Good mimosas too, although that kind of wiped out the cheapness of the lunch special- they should have a happy hour here!

Ordered from Seamless the other night, first time trying Brick Lane - my new go-to Indian place. The food came quickly and still fresh and hot. We ordered samosa, matar paneer and the vindaloo curry - all so amazing. Really excited to have a new favorite Indian restaurant in the neighborhood.

After a GrubHub search for Indian on the UES I finally settled on Brick Lane. Reviews looked decent and I had a hanckering for Indian. The delivery took less than and hour, which was not bad. Ordered lamb vindaloo and goan shrimp with a side of plain naan. The vindaloo was spicy as expcected and goan shrimp well flavored. The taste and good delivery time were positives. Two very big negatives were amount of "protein" and cost. The meal was well over $50 but there was not much meat in our dishes. Although flavor and freshness was very good it was not worth the what I paid. If I could give a 3.5 I would but can't see myself making the stretch to a "4".

Used a Groupon and they could not have been nicer. Samosas and cauliflower starters were good. Lamp chops were over spiced hot , hot, hot. Chicken dish was very good. They have a great beer menu including draft Indian beers. Lovely dining room with tablecloths in the back.

I went here for lunch with some friends the other day. They have an amazing lunch special: $12 for curry, naan (you can ask for garlic), dal of the day, a veggie dish (we had potatoes and peas), and rice. Everything was delicious but none of it was really mind blowing, which is fine. Pretty standard Indian fare. Brick Lane is pricier than many other local Indian restaurants for dinner, but it's a solid lunch spot.

I've been in person once and ordered delivery once, bother experiences were great. Chicken Tikka Masala was perfectly spicy. I know that isn't a very adventurous meal when it comes to Indian, but it is what I love! Service in restaurant was great as well. Server was helpful and even gave a complimentary dessert. I'm going to order again and again!

KETCHUP I MEAN KETCHUP on the cauliflower appertizer they claim to be famous for. Did I say ketchup? Yes. I have never been so stunned by a meal in my life, esp. given the fact that said Heinz ketchup cauliflower cost 8 bucks. Our entrees were 15 and 16 bucks respectively, and while indeed spicy, my vegetable vindaloo had the same exact ingredients and sauce as my friend's masala chick pea dish -- two tiny pieces of cauliflower, tons of thumb-sized potatoes, frozen peas, and raw ginger strips, just a few vegetables drowned by a sea of "sauce." Both dishes were swimming in oil and were the least nuanced Indian sauces I have ever been afflicted by. The nans were prefab, not fresh, I'd stake my life on it. Indubitably they were inedible. Pretentious, pathetically bad food at absurd prices -- this was not only by a mile the very worst "Indian" food I've ever had but maybe even the worst restaurant encounter I've ever endured.

The food here is of a much higher caliber than the rest of the (admittedly average) UES Indian establishments. It costs a bit more, but is worth it to us. Chicken Tikka, Naan, Chicken Curry are all quite good. Sometimes the chicken cubes are a bit dry, but we have ordered from here 3-4 times and will continue to do so.

Love, love, love this restaurant! It's become my go-to spot on the UES for Indian. The food is excellent - Jalfrezi Curry is my favorite, perfect and just spicy enough. The service is prompt and friendly. Prices are fair/reasonable. The tables are evenly spaced and not crammed together. Highly recommend this place.

There was pretty much nothing about our experience that made us ever want to come back again. Our food took at least half an hour to come out - the table next to us who sat down about 10 minutes after we did got theirs first, that's always infuriating. The restaurant doesn't have a liquor license yet, so I had to go down the street to buy a bottle of wine, though we were not charged a corkage fee. Veggie samosas: undercooked, may as well have been filled with mashed potatoes and a few token peas for all the flavor it had. Garlic nan: it's not just putting some garlic powder on the bread while it's in the oven, guys. Try harder. Butter chicken (mild): basically tomato sauce. Has no flavor unless you step up to at least medium. Lamb madras (hot): definitely not properly spicy, I hate when waiters don't take me seriously on that. The sauce tasted exactly like Lean Cuisine Thai Style Chicken, which would've been much cheaper and just as satisfying. We got a single small dish of rice for three orders of curry and a dinner portion of channa masala. There was also no additional rice provided after we had the remnants of two portions wrapped up to go. I've had better Indian food for less than half the price in hole-in-the-wall places. Don't waste your money like we did ours.

Very good curry house. They do a very good buffet lunch for a great price and the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and lamb goan are delicious. The only area where there is room for improvement is the service. It can be hit or miss. Some of the servers are good, some are poor.

This place was delicious and lovely. The food was outstanding, as was the well priced wine. The service was perfect. They were so accommodating, even though we were very late for our reservation; I'm pretty sure they stayed late just for us. Despite the late hour, they didn't make us feel rushed or unwelcome, especially considering we were only paying with a Groupon. Great ambience, too. Such a great dinner experience for us!

This place is great. The food is great, the service is amazing. I've eaten there several times and ordered delivery and always good. They are very aware of specialized diets too. I've had no problem eating gluten free / dairy free meals there. For those gfdf people my recommendation would be one of the coconut milk based curries with vegan rice. They don't have it labeled on the menu but if you explain to them what you are looking for they are very helpful and knowledgable about what your options are.

Went here for the lunch special and it is an excellent deal. I usually always regret eating Indian food because I feel bloated and heavy from all the cream and oil. Not at Brick Lane. While their portion sizes may be small, the flavor is intense, the sauce is NOT overly creamy or buttery and the lunch special also comes with two side veggie dishes, rice and naan. I also ordered a mango lassi which was extra thick and delicious. Their dinner entrees are expensive but you get what you pay for in quality.

We were a group of 8 so I called ahead to check if they had tables open (did not give names or make a reservation), so I was rather charmed that when we did show up about an hour later, they had our table laid out and ready for the group of 8 who had called, without having requested for it. The specials sounded particularly good, but we went for the curry variations which although not memorable, were slightly above average. Two in the group decided to go for the Phaal challenge (extremely hot curry), which was a bad decision because not only is it spicy but it was badly cooked. Save your money and ego and try something else instead. The biryani was also good. The decor is great, the atmosphere mellow and the cocktails strong; it was almost like we had the place to ourselves. We stayed late into the night but the management never asked us to leave, so extra points for that. Great place for a big family meal, or a intimate friends catch up. The prices are a little steep for what the food is, but given the great ambiance - I would say it is worth it.

Background I love Indian food and was excited when Brick Lane opened up on the UES. The resteraunt itself is attractive with an impressive well stocked bar. Unfortunately the food and staff don't live up to the strong first impression. Food quality was poor and the staff completely apathetic. Both front and back of the house are simply phoning it in, they seemed bothered by having to deal with customers. Experience was so poor that for the first time in my life I left a less than 15% tip. Have no plans of ever going back.

i really really wanted to like this place. And have been wanting to try it ever since I saw the Man vs. Food Phaal Curry challenge. Was craving indian food and headed over to the lunch buffet, which is open from 12-4 pm. Food was cold, the service was slow and it left my craving unsatisfied. We waited for the naan and tandoori chicken app for about 15-20 minutes at which point we were done with our first plate of food. Both items were cold, so why the wait? The chicken tikka masala station was full of cream and little chicken. Trader Joes butter chicken is 10x better than Brick Lane's version. It hurts me to write this review. I'm rooting for all Indian restaurants, esp on the UES area. and especially ones called Brick Lane (probably due to my bengali heritage).

Great lamb chops, Lassuni Gobi, madras, beautiful well stocked bar, clean , polite staff. Good for large or small groups, this location is roomer than the downtown location, and happily the quality of the food uptown is just as good as the original location.

Listen up management...I like the food but the prices don't align with what you serve. This time I'm writing because the waitress said "let me check if we have poperdum". Forgive my misspelling but she did bring out some after all, it was old and you ran out of the usual chutneys except tamarind. With these prices, what's the excuse. Pretty lame guys considering there is a ton of competition!

I ordered from Brick Lane at my parents house on Sunday. We were 5 people and the bill was about $160 (with a $10 tip for the delivery guy). The food was really good! The only thing I'd say was the dishes don't come with a ton of protein. The sauces were absolutely delicious, but I only had about 8 pieces of lamb in my lamb tikka curry, and the paneer tikka tandoori only had about 6 pieces of paneer. Every piece was amazing, though.

I stayed close by and yet never had tried the place. Went with my parents for dinner. Absolutely adored the ambience. Ordered vegetarian food and everyone in my family loved it. The service was efficient and food cooked with appropriate ingredients. I highly recommend to try if you like Indian food.

I am starting to really love Indian food and trying different types of curries. Brick Lane has a really good selection of various Indian cuisine, including curries. We came as a big group of ten, and the staff were very helpful and attentive. No complaints there! Each dish has typical prices in NYC and varies depending on the type of protein you choose to go with it. Vegetarian options are cheapest at around $13 but I had the lamb which was $19. Prices aren't cheap, but decent. The naan, oh the naan! Gloriously garlicky and doughy yet crisp. I only wish each entree portion was bigger. Each dish had maybe five pieces of meat, where relevant. To me that didn't pass muster. The restaurant was rather empty when we dined here, but hopefully they get enough patrons to stay afloat! They serve decent Indian food with class.

OK We have eaten here again and I am prepared to draw on my recommendation for this place. i gave it a recommendation, but only as the best class B indian restaurant around and if you don't mind bland. But it seems the place is inconsistent as we just had a perfectly good, well-spiced and recommendable meal there! I am not sure it IS now a class b restaurant though I dont see how there can be so many yelpers saying it is bland while still being class A so can some other knowledgeable yelpers please chime in? Our meal was far from bland. No one asked us how spicy we wanted the food (which I take to be a GOOD thing: I hate it when a chef who is supposed to be professional doesn't seem to know how he should cook) and all dishes came out just right, even for our party member who can't take spicy. There was enough to take home and try the next day, - when it should (and did) taste as good as the day before. And remember, the beer is great, with Stones IPA on offer and some others as well, not just a half-dozen similar tasting Indian boring-beers like everywhere else. Something must have gone wrong in the kitchen on the last occasion we came (or possibly the owners read my review and emerged from Montclaire NJ and started trying this place themselves and didn't like it!) and I encourage readers to try this place and give their views.

Love this place, and the food is consistently amazing. By now, I've tried most of the curry dishes and they've all been delicious. My favorite is still the Korma. On a less positive note, this place is extremely pricey for Indian food, and there are plenty of other spots in this city where you can get food equally as delicious for half the price. However, if we're talking Yorkville, this is your best bet.

Horrible service! Not impressed for the upper east side. Food was great if they didn't forget half my order and brought everything AFTER the main course sitting there waiting to get cold while on the sizzler platter. She didn't mention about my naan bread after I ask for my check. Table next to us came and sat after us got their food in 15-20min w appetizer. We didn't get any apps but our main (the sizzler sampler) took almost 45min. Terrible. But other then that great spices

I am a huge fan of the East Village location and was excited to try this UES location. The service here was TERRIBLE. We ordered 3 drinks... and only got two. It took 45 minutes before we got our food and this required persistent asking after a 30 minute wait. Two tables seated 10 minutes and longer after us got their food before we did. In fact the 2nd table got two orders of food delivered before we got any of ours. With such delay coloring our palates, it was hard to even appreciate the food. It seemed not as delicious as the East Village location. The saag paneer was way too salty. It looks like I'm not the only one experiencing slow service here. If you're on a schedule- it's too much of a gamble to eat here. It might even be faster to go to the East Village location.

Excellent food, excellent service in the restaurant and timely delivery service for take out. A great UES spot for a nice dinner.

Average Indian fare at inflated prices.

Nice date spot. Romantic lighting at night. The food is standard of Indian restaurants but very delicious. Great chicken tikki masala and chicken sagg. Love the basil Nann bread. Good wine list. Only con: a bit pricey

Sunday brunch: All you can all you can eat / drink for 15 bones ! Very good standard 'Americanized' Indian. Fresh. Friendly attentive staff. I hate sangria but the sangria was flipping delicious. Come hungry leave thinking 'I really need to go to the gym'

No thanks!

Ordered for delivery the Chicken Masala. It was very good but only got 5 small pieces of chicken. Price $18.

(5)Rikin K.
(4)Nish S.
3 stars for food, none for service. I walked into the restaurant for buffet. Food tasted good but the variety was below average. The service was below average. Tandoori chicken thumbs up!! The ambience is nice- full bar with romantic aura. Overall, I expect more for the price!
(3)Nate M.

(1)Beth R.
Ordered delivery. Good but pricey. This is definitely the best Indian food on the UES and in Spanish Harlem. The Madras chicken curry was flavorful, moist and not greasy. The rice was fluffy.
(3)Leslie B.
Great food, great staff. Place looks brand new. Extremely clean. Slightly pricey and not BYOB sadly.
(4)Gina L.

(4)K B.
Absolutely delicate curries! Very tasty. But, watch the calories :-) Delicious

(2)M. B.
Came in here again for another AMAZING meal! Management didn't forget us or our orders! This place is perfection!
(5)Sandhya C.
(4)Farah T.
(5)Jenny L.
Delicious food in decent portions! Hilarious and friendly waitstaff. Ask to be seated in the back- it's a gorgeous and highly romantic area.

(3)Liz R.
Enjoy!
(5)Internet M.
Sunday brunch: All you can all you can eat / drink for 15 bones ! Very good standard 'Americanized' Indian. Fresh. Friendly attentive staff. I hate sangria but the sangria was flipping delicious. Come hungry leave thinking 'I really need to go to the gym'
(4)Jen C.
Delicious fresh food! Beautiful decor. Service is always pretty good. Have had a couple of enjoyable meals here in the past few months.
(4)Francis S.
(4)Michelle W.
(2)Lil C.
(3)Stephen T.
(3)Ash O.
(5)Charlie M.
20 ounce pints, excellent chicken korma, garlic naan. Not a whole lot of appetizers but the cauliflower was delicious! Nice and roomy with some nice spots tucked away for great date night.
(4)Stephen B.
(4)One D.
(4)Kit B.
(1)D M.
Pretty good English style curry. The masala is great and so is the naan. Lots of great sauces to choose from. Never very crowded, so easy last minute dining choice. Specialty drinks are not good, tried both the margarita and mojito. Stick to a good draft ale with your meal.
(3)Katie M.
(4)Christine P.
(4)Andrew M.
(4)Steve L.
authentic and unpretentious. the food was much more geared towards people who know indian food. no hot medium mild crap. you order the curry you want because you know it's strength. not for the faint hearted. avoid the bangalore phal challenge. it's not worth damaging your entire system for a free beer. they did bring us a round of drinks on the house which endeared them to us. highly recommended.
(4)Paul M.
(4)Mark M.
(5)Alex W.
(4)Nik C.
(5)Rahul J.
BLAH..Another Indian restaurant which seems to make slight variations of one sauce for every dish.
(3)Pooja V.
(5)Mary M.
Come here for the lunch special- best price for Indian food in the area, and superior to Maharaja! Good mimosas too, although that kind of wiped out the cheapness of the lunch special- they should have a happy hour here!
(4)LL A.
(5)Mario D.
(3)p d.
Used a Groupon and they could not have been nicer. Samosas and cauliflower starters were good. Lamp chops were over spiced hot , hot, hot. Chicken dish was very good. They have a great beer menu including draft Indian beers. Lovely dining room with tablecloths in the back.
(3)Renita K.
(4)Kaitlin B.
(4)Dean B.
(1)Jake I.
(4)Catherine M.
(5)Scott J.
Only had beer here. Can't rate the food. Decent bar tender service.
(3)Jules K.
(1)Julian F.
Very good curry house. They do a very good buffet lunch for a great price and the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and lamb goan are delicious. The only area where there is room for improvement is the service. It can be hit or miss. Some of the servers are good, some are poor.
(4)Iris D.
Excellent food, wine, dessert, hospitality and decor. I enjoy every single dish I've ever had. Vikram's recommendations are always impeccable. Every one there is inviting, courteous and attentive. The meals are clean, satiating and delicious!
(5)Heather S.
(5)Eric H.
(5)Boomer W.
Went for the lunch special.ten dollars included an entree, vegetable dish, lentils dish, rice, naan bread and dessert!..The food was delicious and was such a great deal. I will be back soon! Nice decor and great staff as well :).
(5)Michael P.
(5)Angelique A.
Good decor and a new but gracious waiter, I was pleasantly surprised by this location of the chain.
(4)Jenny J.
The food is decent. Staff are friendly. Phaal challenge isn't the smartest idea... Phaal if you dare!
(4)Jim K.
Food is pretty good but service is not. Very slow even when the place is almost empty.
(3)Jack S.
(1)Emaan M.
i really really wanted to like this place.
(2)Wendy H.
Great lamb chops, Lassuni Gobi, madras, beautiful well stocked bar, clean , polite staff. Good for large or small groups, this location is roomer than the downtown location, and happily the quality of the food uptown is just as good as the original location.
(3)Ray A.
(3)Arielle C.
(4)SA M.
Excellent food, excellent service in the restaurant and timely delivery service for take out. A great UES spot for a nice dinner.
(5)Priyanka K.
I stayed close by and yet never had tried the place. Went with my parents for dinner. Absolutely adored the ambience. Ordered vegetarian food and everyone in my family loved it. The service was efficient and food cooked with appropriate ingredients. I highly recommend to try if you like Indian food.
(4)Audrey T.
(3)Jonathan S.
(4)Pamela D.
Average Indian fare at inflated prices.

Great lunch buffet for the price! I love the Chicken Tikka Masala. Decent appetizer selection for a buffet as well! Highly recommend!

Fantastic mango lassi, a professional waiting staff, and delicious tikka masala. Absolutely in love

Nice date spot. Romantic lighting at night. The food is standard of Indian restaurants but very delicious. Great chicken tikki masala and chicken sagg. Love the basil Nann bread. Good wine list. Only con: a bit pricey

(5)Rikin K.
(4)Nish S.
3 stars for food, none for service. I walked into the restaurant for buffet. Food tasted good but the variety was below average. The service was below average. Tandoori chicken thumbs up!! The ambience is nice- full bar with romantic aura. Overall, I expect more for the price!
(3)Nate M.
(2)Jessie J.
Went here today for the lunch buffet. It's $12 per person. The restaurant itself is nice. It's pretty spacious and a little dim inside. I honestly enjoyed the food but I was a little disappointed that they lacked variety. When I think of a buffet I think about having a lot of different options.
(4)Paul G.
This is one of our absolute favorite restaurants. We did our rehearsal dinner for our wedding here. The service was outstanding as well as the food. The lunch buffet is a great way to spend the afternoon. Highly recommend!
(5)Phyllis D.
Excellent food & service!!! Alan is a wonderful bartender. Chicken tikka Marsala was outstanding! Would have loved to have a tee shirt as a souvenir but I love my coffee cup just the same! Thanks Alan!
(5)Dana G.
Went here for the lunch buffet. Good price but bad food. This place gave me food poisoning. I know it wasn't just me because I went with a bunch of my coworkers and we all had stomach issues after eating here. I would never go back. Beware!
(1)Jason H.

(5)Safraz P.
Decent food. Very nice staff. Decor and atmosphere was cool. Good for a date. Lunch buffet was well worth it; quite a few options. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Came in here again for another AMAZING meal! Management didn't forget us or our orders! This place is perfection!
(5)Angelique A.
Good decor and a new but gracious waiter, I was pleasantly surprised by this location of the chain.
(4)Jenny J.
The food is decent. Staff are friendly. Phaal challenge isn't the smartest idea... Phaal if you dare!
(4)Jim K.
Food is pretty good but service is not. Very slow even when the place is almost empty.
(3)Jack S.
(1)Emaan M.
i really really wanted to like this place.
(2)Wendy H.
Great lamb chops, Lassuni Gobi, madras, beautiful well stocked bar, clean , polite staff. Good for large or small groups, this location is roomer than the downtown location, and happily the quality of the food uptown is just as good as the original location.
(3)Ray A.
(3)Arielle C.
(3)Jonathan S.

(4)Farah T.

Delicious food in decent portions! Hilarious and friendly waitstaff. Ask to be seated in the back- it's a gorgeous and highly romantic area.

Sunday brunch: All you can all you can eat / drink for 15 bones ! Very good standard 'Americanized' Indian. Fresh. Friendly attentive staff. I hate sangria but the sangria was flipping delicious. Come hungry leave thinking 'I really need to go to the gym'

Delicious fresh food! Beautiful decor. Service is always pretty good. Have had a couple of enjoyable meals here in the past few months.

(3)Liz R.
Enjoy!
(5)Francis S.

(2)Lil C.
(3)Stephen T.
(3)Ash O.
(5)Charlie M.
20 ounce pints, excellent chicken korma, garlic naan. Not a whole lot of appetizers but the cauliflower was delicious! Nice and roomy with some nice spots tucked away for great date night.
(4)Stephen B.
(4)One D.
(4)Kit B.
(1)D M.
Pretty good English style curry. The masala is great and so is the naan. Lots of great sauces to choose from. Never very crowded, so easy last minute dining choice. Specialty drinks are not good, tried both the margarita and mojito. Stick to a good draft ale with your meal.
(3)Katie M.
(4)Christine P.
(4)Andrew M.
(4)Steve L.
authentic and unpretentious. the food was much more geared towards people who know indian food. no hot medium mild crap. you order the curry you want because you know it's strength. not for the faint hearted. avoid the bangalore phal challenge. it's not worth damaging your entire system for a free beer. they did bring us a round of drinks on the house which endeared them to us. highly recommended.
(4)Paul M.
(4)Mark M.

BLAH..Another Indian restaurant which seems to make slight variations of one sauce for every dish.

(4)Catherine M.
(5)Scott J.
Only had beer here. Can't rate the food. Decent bar tender service.
(3)Michael P.

(4)Iris D.
Excellent food, wine, dessert, hospitality and decor. I enjoy every single dish I've ever had. Vikram's recommendations are always impeccable. Every one there is inviting, courteous and attentive. The meals are clean, satiating and delicious!

(5)Eric H.

Went for the lunch special.ten dollars included an entree, vegetable dish, lentils dish, rice, naan bread and dessert!..The food was delicious and was such a great deal. I will be back soon! Nice decor and great staff as well :).

No thanks!

Ordered for delivery the Chicken Masala. It was very good but only got 5 small pieces of chicken. Price $18.
(4)Tristram S.

I have ordered from this place again and I'm pleased to say that my first experience was a fluke. The food is just as delicious as is was the first time around.

Great brunch at an amazing price with very attentive service.

(1)Dalla A.

(2)Nancy H.
Ordered delivery from Brick Lane tonight, and have been up all night vomiting. Have felt sick ever since eating the food. I live a few blocks away and have had good previous experiences here, but probably will never be able to stomach ordering from here again. Just curious if anybody else is also sick?
(1)Kian G.
(4)Nick G.
(4)Bridget M.
Brick Lane is fantastic. The food is awesome, and I can't recall the last time I had service this great. This place moved to the top of my list of favorites!
(5)Aine O.
Went to this place last night. Absolutely delicious! Food was amazing, the staff were super friendly and I came out feeling SO full and the portions are so big I have enough food left to eat tonight. Very reasonably priced, great value for what you get. I'll definitely go there again. Love the place!
(5)Josephine C.
Second time in two weeks we ate here and love it not too heavy the buffet today was amazing price and all ,clean and classy decor ,party room in back beautiful and elegant we cannot wait to try the lamb shack they prepare next time were told to call ahead .Staff were attentive cleaned up fast but not on top of you which we hate so it works for us will definitely go back soon .
(5)Alice T M.
loved this place the best food I have had in a long time.
(5)John F.
(5)Carla D.
(5)Danielle D.
(5)Arezo T.
Doesn't even deserve 1 star ---- and I've never hated a place as much as this. Poor quality food, HORRIBLE wait staff. Dirty utensils. Undercooked food. Don't waste your time on overpriced tasteless food. Go somewhere else.
(4)Gina L.
(2)Steff M.
Brick Lane Curry just opened on our block so we thought we'd give it a try for dinner...it was fantastic! Definitely recommend the fish entrees, Parsi Macchi & the Tandoori catch of the day, as well as the Mango Lassi. So glad we decided to stop in!
(4)K B.
Absolutely delicate curries! Very tasty. But, watch the calories :-) Delicious
